Seymour Exploration Corp. Provides Update on Exploration Activities
at Lynn Lake
Sudbury, Ontario – February 13, 2006 – Seymour Exploration Corp. (SEZ:
TSX-V) is pleased to announce that the first exploration drilling
program to be undertaken at the former Lynn Lake mine site in over 30
years will begin this week. The Company has also recently completed an
initial surface geophysical survey, which produced a new, shallow
target.
The Company acquired the Lynn Lake property in early 2005 and
believes that considerable potential for exploration success exists at
this property, due to:
- known resources of 6.3 million tons grading 0.85% Nickel and
0.39% Copper on the property (see the Company’s 43-101 compliant
resource estimate as detailed in its press release of September 19,
2005);
- prior exploration holes, drilled over 30 years ago, successfully
intersected nickel mineralization. However, no follow up drilling
was undertaken to determine the extent of the mineralization;
- modern geophysical techniques have never been employed on the
property; and
- very limited exploratory drilling has been undertaken below
3,000 feet on the property and, by comparison, nickel sulphide ore
bodies in Canada are being mined at over twice this depth.
On site exploration activities began in early January. The original
mine grid was reestablished by a land surveyor in advance of undertaking
a modern geophysical survey. A large area in the southern portion of the
property was tested with an electromagnetic survey. The survey
identified a conductive feature in an area where there is no historic
drilling.
This new conductor is located approximately 450 feet south of the “B”
orebody, which was mined from surface to the 3,000 foot level. The
conductor appears to be the up-dip extension of target “Echo.” The
Company is focusing on target Echo because it is large, extending from
below 3,000 feet to surface with no drilling whatsoever between the 780
foot level and surface. With the successful completion of the
geophysical survey, target Echo is now fully modeled and ready for
drilling.
Diamond drilling will commence later this week and will continue for
the next two to three months. The Company will release results of the
ongoing exploration program as they become available.
For further information on target Echo, refer to the Company’s press
release dated September 27, 2005 and the Company’s website:
